KWALUSENI:An army truck arrived at the University of Eswatini(UNESWA)on Monday afternoon as a strike action by Lecturers and other workers within the institution of higher learning intensifies.
This comes after leaders from various trade unions under the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland(TUCOSWA) joined the strike action in support of the Lecturers who are demanding a salary increment.
The TUCOSWA leaders who arrived at UNESWA include Wander Mkhonza,the Secretary General of the Amalgamated Trade Union Congress of Swaziland(ATUSWA),TUCOSWA Secretary General Mduduzi Gina,Winile Mlotsa(TUCOSWA First Deputy Secretary General)and Lot Vilakati,the Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT).
Addressing the Lecturers,ATUSWA Secretary General Wander Mkhonza said it was unfortunate that some of the Board members at the University were earning salaries far above the amount stipulated by law.
“It is unfortunate that some of the Board members are earning monies far above the amount stipulated by the law while workers earn peanuts,” said the ATUSWA Secretary General.
