MBABANE: Princess Sikhanyiso, the Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT), has advised Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini to apologise to Mswati, she says the King is willing to forgive and welcome him.
The King’s first-born daughter shared this advice in a WhatsApp conversation with the editor on Friday morning.
Princess Sikhanyiso and the editor were talking and commenting about a picture of Prince Phikolezwe that he has grown-up.
The editor is closely related to the Minister’s son, Phikolezwe through his younger father, Brigadier General Prince Gwalagwala who was the Chief of Staff in the Army, Gwalagwala is the grandfather of Phikolezwe.
“Just apologise to the King; he will forgive you, sonkhe sibe-Nkhosi Ngwane,”said the Minister to the editor.
But in the WhatsApp conversation, the editor asked the King’s daughter why she was diverting to politics when they were merely talking about a child, and the Information Minister suggested that they must close the conversation.
“Hhayi mani sikhuluma ngemtfwana sofaka politics,”said the editor when responding to the Minister.
Reached for comments, editor Zweli Martin Dlamini said Princess Sikhanyiso must never even dream of seeing him kneeling and apologising to his father Mswati, who killed innocent civilians for demanding democracy.
“Princess Sikhanyiso must never even dream of seeing me apologizing to a dictator who oppresses civilians and kills protestors for demanding democracy. I am not a coward, instead of apologising, I want to see the pressure against Mswati to democratize intensifying. The idea of apologising is meant to capture me and bring me closer to the King, to silence the voice of the masses. Fortunately, I have a backbone; only cowards apologise for standing for the truth," said the editor.
The editor said it was actually King Mswati who must surrender power to the people and apologise for killing civilians merely for demanding democracy.
