MBABANE: Penuel Malinga, the Secretary General of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) has, on behalf of the political organization, sent a message of condolences to the South African Communist Party(SACP) following the death of Central Committee and Politburo member Christ Matlhako.
In a public statement sent to this Swaziland News on Friday, the PUDEMO Secretary General said many leaders were mentored by the late SACP senior member.
“PUDEMO extends our sincere sympathy to his organization, the South African Communist Party, the Matlhako family and the entire Tripartite Alliance.PUDEMO has benefited immensely from the great teachings and exemplary life of Cde Chris. Many leaders of our organisation today were natured by Comrade Chris, who patiently taught us, the universal values of socialism and the need to have an international appreciation of our struggle. Throughout the different leadership roles Cde Chris has occupied in the ranks of the South African Communist Party, Cde Chris had always placed prime priority to the struggle of the people of Swaziland. We were looking forward to learning a lot from Cde Chris as he occupied the important role of Secretary for International Relations,” reads the statement in part.
The PUDEMO Secretary General went on to describe Chris was an outstanding internationalist and an exemplary communist who believed and practiced practical solidarity.
“He was a giant intellectual who was always ready and willing to share his wealth of knowledge and wisdom, particularly on matters of working class struggles. Our struggle is one of the most confusing even to some well-respected cadres of our sister revolutionary organization but with cde ‘CHE’ as he was sometimes called find no riddles or confusing webs as he stood firmly and consistently in denouncing the Mswati regime which has hang on power using the only means known by dictators, violence and killings,” said the PUDEMO Secretary General.
