MBABANE: Senator Christopher Coons, the Chairperson of the United States(US)Congress on Foreign Relations has tabled resolution 174 on eSwatini human rights violations,after the brutal killing of human rights lawyer Thulani Rudolf Maseko.
Christopher Coons is an American lawyer and politician serving as the United States(US)Senator.
The tabling of the resolution this week comes amid killing of civilians by Mswati’s police and soldiers, on Saturday, Mduduzi Mkhonta of Mashobeni was shot and killed by the army merely for traveling at night.
A questionnaire was sent to Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo,however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, the resolution on eSwatini is expected to be debated by the Senate and thereafter, a decision will taken on what measures should be taken by the United States(US) against eSwatini amid the continued human rights violations.
