HARARE:King Mswati,an absolute Monarch,has called for the lifting of sanctions against Zimbabwe saying these sanctions continue to affect the economy of the Southern African country.
Zimbabwe was sanctioned by the West and its allies amid human rights violations after the then President Robert Mugabe forcefully grabbed farms belonging to white farmers.
King Mswati is in Zimbabwe on a State visit,he attended the Transform Africa Summit on Wednesday.
The King maintained that the sanctions must be lifted.
“These sanctions are not only hitting Zimbabwe but the world including Africa,” said the King.
Mswati, an absolute Monarch is a subject of an investigation by international human rights organizations,and might be sanctioned for allegedly killing human rights defenders and innocent civilians merely for demanding democracy.
