MBABANE:Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT)who is allegedly wanted dead by the State says he doesn’t trust the police with his security.
It has been disclosed that Dlamini is one of the high profile political leaders and trade unionists who are targeted by Mswati’s agents amid ongoing assassinations of human rights defenders.
Speaking to this Swaziland News current affairs program during an interview on Friday, the SNAT President said he met with the National Commissioner of Police William Tsintsibala Dlamini on Thursday and was advised to report the threats on his life to the police.
“But I don’t trust the police with my security because they are the ones hunting me. It would have been better if there was an institution responsible for monitoring the conduct of the police,” said the SNAT President.
Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
It has been disclosed that on the day of human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko’s assassination, the SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini was allegedly followed by suspicious State vehicles, he immediately prioritized his safety.
Dlamini confirmed this in a separate interview with editor Zweli Martin Dlamini on Saturday.
”It’s true that on the very same day when Thulani was assassinated, police and soldiers were camping next to my home waiting for me,”said the SNAT President.
