MBABANE: Emaswati For Change has criticized Mswati’s invitation to attend the Coronation of British Monarch, King Charles III.

Mswati, an absolute Monarch, stands accused of unleashing his soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for, demanding democratic reforms.

In a public statement sent to this Swaziland News on Thursday,Saneliswa Magagula, the EmaSwati for Change representative said they were extremely sadddened by King Charles decision to invite King Mswati whose hands are dripping of the blood of Swazis. 

“Your Majesty, while the people of eSwatini are happy for you as you get officially crowned King, they are extremely saddened by your decision to invite to your dining table King Mswati.King Mswati comes to your ceremony with hands dripping of the blood of our people, which shall stain not only the seats and tables at which he will be sitting but also blemish your entire coronation. The blood of our fallen martyrs shall be flowing under the tables from which you will be eating," reads the statement in part. 

King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

The coronation ceremony will take place on the 6th of May 2023.
