“I am wanted for doing my job as a journalist”, Times Weekend Editor Welcome Dlamini speaks on Press Freedom Day.

MBABANE: Welcome Dlamini, the Times of eSwatini Weekend Editor and President of the Eswatini National Association of Journalists(ENAJ)has alleged that he is wanted dead for doing his job as a journalist.

Addressing guests during the World Press Freedom Day Commemoration held at Emafini Lodge-Mbabane on Wednesday, the editor said despite the threats and intimidation,he will continue doing his job as a journalist.

Dlamini said threats against journalists come from various stakeholders including government and other major players.

“So the today’s theme of freedom of expressing being the most important right that facilitates for all the other rights to be observed, is non-existent to us. There’s is no freedom of expression and you must conclude that,”said the Times editor.

On another note, Mbongeni Mbingo, the Chairman of the Eswatini Editors Forum urged Dlamini to remain strong despite the challenges.
