MBABANE: The Minister Of Education Lady Howard Mabuza has revealed that her Ministry is working around the clock to ensure that schools re-open following a phased approach by July .
Speaking during an interview with this publication on Thursday, the Minister said they were still consulting with relevant stakeholders and if all goes well,Form 5 will be the first group to return to school .
\"We will open schools gradually startingwith those who will be sitting for an international examination which is form 5. We are hoping that they will return to school by the 1 st July then followed by Form 3 and Grade 7 at a later date.We are in consultations with the Ministry of Health and they have promised to provide us with technical support. The Ministry of Health will conduct workshops to capacitate teachers and parents and also provide masks and sanitizers for teachers and pupils\" said the Minister.
When reached for comment,Eswatini Principal Association\'s President Welcome Mhlanga said they met astheMoET Technical team on COVID 19 on Wednesday adding that they are still drafting the guidelines that will govern the opening of schools.
“Life must continue in the midstof COVID 19 because no one knows how long it will be around. We have to prioritize preventive measures in schools” he said.
