MBABANE:King Mswati’s police officers invaded Madlangemphisi on Friday evening,shot and killed Mthokozisi Sgantshotsho Dlamini, subsequently,the members of the law enforcement agency discovered he was not the wanted copper theft suspect.

Citizens are killed by security forces with impunity in eSwatini, police and soldiers are not arrested for killing innocent civilians.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Sunday,Lindelwa Mdluli, a sister to the deceased said the police later visited their home on Saturday morning and told them that they shot Mthokozisi by mistake, adding that they wanted Mthokozisi's older brother Bhekise Dlamini, for copper theft.

“The police arrived here yesterday(Saturday)morning and told us that they wanted Bhekise for copper theft, they claimed Mthokozisi was shot and killed by mistake. They told my father that they won't entertain any questions, if he wants to ask anything they should come to Mliba Police Station,” said Lindelwa Mdluli,a sister to Mthokozisi. 

It is alleged that Mthokozisi was fixing his car in the yard together with his friends,the police arrived and opened fire.

Mthokozisi Dlamini leaves behind two children aged two(2)and six(6) months respectively. 

Lindelwa Mdluli told this publication that Mthokozisi was a bread-winner in their family.

A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati,the Police Spokesperson,however,she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, Bongnkosi ‘IB’ Dlamini, the Convenor of the United Eswatini Diaspora(UED) said the international community was witnessing the continued killing of civilians in eSwatini, he wondered if it’s not the right time for Swazis to consider the “eye for an eye” defense mechanism.

“We must ask ourselves this one question; is it not the time to consider an eye for an eye wherein you kill my innocent child and we the people do the same and take away your innocent child as a police, soldier,warder or member of the royal family.To me,I believe,that time has long come.Let the police, soldiers, warders and members of the royal family start burying their own children,” he said.
