The members of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO), who drafted and delivered the United States (US) Resolution appreciation letter to the US Embassy under the letterheads of the Swaziland United Democratic Front (SUDF),committed a huge blunder that must be urgently corrected.
After the death of human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko,it became clear that the MultiStakeholder Forum (MSF) was now recognized even by the United Nations (UN),all pro-democracy groups must now unite under the MSF banner and intensify the struggle.
The late Thulani Maseko who was highly skilled in uniting the pro-democracy movement, was corresponding with international organizations in his capacity as the Chairperson of the MSF.
Now, the letter delivered to the US Embassy by the SUDF, dominated by PUDEMO members, suggests that the MSF is now under the SUDF, which is far from the truth, and such blunders are likely to confuse the international community.
Perhaps,it is worth-mentioning that there are other members within PUDEMO and other political organizations who are working tirelessly behind the scenes to intensify the struggle but, such political blunders, if not corrected, are likely to undermine their efforts.
It is such blunders that resulted to some leaders within the pro-democracy movement concluding that PUDEMO is dominated by power-hungry individuals, who want to dominate everywhere in the struggle.
The MultiStakeholder Forum must, as a matter of urgency, appoint a Chairperson who will lead the organisation, PUDEMO and the SUDF must submit to the collective of the MSF like all pro-democracy groups.
As mentioned, it was such blunders that resulted in the pro-democracy movement having many coalition groups, resulting in the confusion on which coalition organization is leading the struggle in eSwatini.
It should be noted that by submitting the letter under the SUDF letterhead and co-signed by the Political Parties Assembly (PPA) and the MSF,this automatically implies that the PPA and the MSF are under the SUDF.
I am fully aware that it is members of PUDEMO who are leading the SUDF who did this, and they must stop and correct it, unless their intentions are to systematically destroy the MSF and delay the struggle.
The MultiStakeholder Forum (MSF) is a collective that should be supported and strengthened because it is now internationally recognised and enhanced by the reputable brand of human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko.
Whether it’s a PUDEMO member of other entities, any political leader who systematically positions his or her organization as a coalition or uniting structure is power-hungry and a threat to the struggle.
Political organizations must unite under one banner, and for now, that uniting structure is the MultiStakeholder Forum (MSF).
