MBABANE:The Secretariat of the Swaziland MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) has expressed its appreciation regarding the United States(US) Parliament Resolution 174, condemning the ongoing human rights violations in the Kingdom of eSwatini.
MSF is a coalition of political parties and civil society groups in eSwatini collectively working together to intensify calls for democracy.
The resolution tabled by Senator Christopher Coons further proposed sanctions against those violating human rights and,an investigation into the killing of MSF Chairperson and human rights lawyer Thulani Rudolf Maseko.
It is expected to be debated and adopted by the US Senate Congress and soon thereafter, a decision against eSwatini will be taken.
In a public statement sent to this Swaziland News, the organization said it was pleased with the resolution and demand a dialogue to resolve the ongoing political crisis.
“The MSF has maintained that violence only begets violence and the only way to resolve the country’s problems is through peaceful means, at the negotiation table with representation of all stakeholders. We have reiterated several times that elections should be a product of the negotiations with regard to form and nature and that therefore, there can be no elections before dialogue. As such, we are well pleased to note that the resolutions as quoted above from those submitted to the USA Senate find resonance with our position,”reads the statement in part.
