BHUNYA: Phila Buthelezi, the Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi paid a courtesy visit to Montigny, Bhunya where he met Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Andrew Le Roux, as well as the management and staff, Government online platforms reported last week.
According to the report, the CEO made a brief presentation to the Minister highlighting the history and achievements of the company being the second largest timber export in Eswatini.
“The Minister also met the Montigny Investments Staff Association (MISA) Executive members who told the Minister that relations with management were positive as they had an open door policy. They also requested the Minister to look into the unemployment rate and review of the minimum wage. The Minister ended his tour by touring the forest to meet with staff members that work there. They reported to the Minister that they were well taken care of, as transport, accomodation and safety gear were provided. They also said that wages were not a challenge as they were paid higher than the minimum wage,” reads the Government online report.
It has been reported that the Minister emphasised that the tours were important to the Ministry as they get to have a feel of what is happening on the ground, to discover any gaps,opportunities and to improve tripartite relations between the Ministry, employers and employees.
