MBABANE: King Mswati has appealed to members of the public not to treat or perceive soldiers as enemies.

Addressing recruits during a Passout Parade and fifty(50) years Anniversary of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) on Friday at the Nokwane Headquarters, the King said soldiers were children of the Swazis who deserve love and protection from all challenges.

The King further applauded the soldiers for working tirelessly until their pass-out parade.

“As you are being christened today, recruits, it was not easy to get the appropriate name to be given to you, because you are graduating just after the difficult times we have undergone as a Nation. To the whole Nation, today I am presenting to you these soldiers who have just taken their oath of office. Do give them support as they carry-out their national duties in all four corners of the kingdom.Recruits, being a soldier is a true calling; do not be tricked by cunning deceivers who will mislead you and ultimately leave you in trouble. Always stand for the truth and for your oath. The essence of military life is embedded in the pillars of sacrifice, loyalty and integrity. Today, as you graduate from recruits to soldiers, harness all your military values and live uprightly,” said the King as quoted by eSwatini Government online platforms.

The King said being a soldier was a unique profession that requires self-sacrifice, he urged them to respond to the call of duty 24/7. “Consequently, continue doing your job without fear or favour, even when you are not in uniform,” said the King.
