MBABANE:Marwick Khumalo, the Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) has come-out to clarify why MPs laughed while capitalist Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg was blocking Nkilongo MP Timothy Myeni from raising the matter of Khaya Gina, the member of the Swaziland Democratic Party(SWADEPA).
Responding to an opinion article written by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini titled “So MPs laughed for the ‘last time’ while capitalist Finance Minister blocks MP Myeni from raising a genuine matter of public interest?”, MP Marwick Khumalo said the MPs were merely laughing Myeni’s sentiments who said he knew that the Minister will disturb him.
The editor, in his article blasted the MPs, questioning why they laughed instead of supporting Myeni who was raising a matter of public interest.
Dlamini said some of the Members of Parliament(MPs) were laughing for the last time as the people won’t be vote them back to Parliament.
“May I come to the defence of MPs, myself included. For purposes of clarification, the laughter was generated by Hon.Timothy Myeni when he said, bengati kutsi Neil utawusukuma, then MPs burst out laughing, not the other way around Mr Editor,” reads a message sent by the Lobamba Lomdzala MP to the editor.
Khaya Gina, a member of the Swaziland Democratic Party(SWADEPA) was fired as the Elections and Boundaries Commission’s Registration Clerk merely for being a political activist and wearing a t-shirt belonging to his political organization.
