Environmental Affairs Minister Moses Vilakati officially launches Eswatini’s first Wildlife Laboratory.

MBABANE: Moses Vilakati, the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs has launched Eswatini’s first Wildlife Laboratory, the laboratory is situated at the University of Eswatini, Kwaluseni campus.

According to a Government online report on Wednesday, the Minister who was represented by Principal Secretary(PS) Khangeziwe Mabuza said,the laboratory was a long over-due initiative aimed at assisting Government and the country’s two wildlife Competent Authorities: Big Game Parks and Eswatini National Trust Commission in combating wildlife crime.

“It is very true that the country is battling with wildlife crimes that significantly affect both the conservation efforts of the country and the country’s image internationally.With the opening of the laboratory, we are expecting tangible scientific and forensic evidence that will strengthen wildlife cases not only in the country but even in neighbouring countries,” said the Principal Secretary who was representing the Minister.
