MAHLANYA:Residents who are neighbors of Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini here at Ngodini under Lobamba Lomdzala Inkhundla are struggling to access clean water.

This comes after the Prime Minister allegedly drilled his own borehole without assisting the ‘poor’ residents,to maintain their water project that struggles to service the community, due to lack of resources.

Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, public resources benefits King Mswati, his royal family and/or those who are his trusted servants.

A questionnaire was sent to the Prime Minister, however,he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Speaking to this Swaziland News this week, Nduna Mdluli the Chairperson of the Ngodini Don-Don Water Project said the residents were struggling to pay a mere thirty Rands(R30.00) monthly contribution towards the purchasing of electricity units to pump water.

Mdluli said, when they established the project, they were assisted by their Member of Parliament(MP) Marwick Khumalo who contributed a large amount of money from his pocket, however, the MP is said to have then advised the residents to unite, contribute and run the water project themselves.

“The residents are struggling to afford thirty Rands(R30.00), a monthly contribution towards purchasing of electricity units. The units are used to pump the water to the tanks before being distributed to the residents. But even if you contribute, the water is distributed once a week and during the week, the residents risk their lives by consuming unsafe water,” said the Chairperson of the Water Project.
