MANZINI:On Wednesday, a team of journalists from this Swaziland News visited various registration centers to monitor the ongoing registration by the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC).
Worth-noting, since the registration started, no newspaper or TV station has shown a large queue of Swazis in the registration centres, the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC)claimed over two-hundred thousand citizens have already registered.
This was disclosed by Mbonisi Bhembe in an email sent to this Swaziland News this week.
But at Manzini City Centre, of the busiest cities in eSwatini, there was no visible activity on Wednesday, Registration Clerks were seen operating their cellphones, however, within some few minutes, one or two people would register.
On another note, Sikelela Dlamini, the Secretary General of the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) told this publication that it was clear that Swazis were boycotting the undemocratic Tinkhundla elections.
“It’s clear that Swazis are boycotting the Tinkhundla elections. If you can look at the numbers that now stands around two hundred thousands(200 000), it’s impossible to reach the six-hundred and fifty thousands(650 000) target in the next few weeks. We would like to urge Swazis to continue boycotting the Tinkhundla elections while we demand free and fair elections under multiparty democracy,” said the MSF Secretary General.
