MBABANE: While Eswatini highly educated youth struggle to secure employment, some elderly that include former National Commissioner now Senator, Isaac Magagula are still in gainful employment enjoying over fifty-thousand Rands(R50,000.00) salary.

Isaac Magagula is still working as a Senator at the age of seventy-three(73) while his right-hand man Deputy Richard Mngometulu is negotiating an employment contract with the King.

Magagula failed to respond to our questions when asked why he was not considering retirement.

The former National Commissioner was supposed to retire in 2010, his first contract extension was announced by the then Prime Minister Barnabas Dlamini.

Reached for comments,Gabie Ndukuya, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) said it was disturbing to see erdelry people over the age of sixty(60) still employed by government, while the productive learned youth generation struggle to secure employment.

“Graduates in different fields are living in poverty, they can’t earn a living because the government is keeping unproductive people in employment positions. The impact that it has towards  the development of the country is noticeable; economically, academically and otherwise because the government in its implementation of programs lacks the element of young innovative ideas to develop the country since the youth is not employed,” said the Students Union President.
