MBABANE: Penuel Malinga, the Secretary General of the People's United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) has, on behalf of the organization, issued a statement declaring the month of June as ‘The Month of Martyrs'.
PUDEMO is one of the largest political organizations, fighting for democracy in eSwatini.
This decision,according to the Secretary General(SG),is in remembrance of all the fallen heroes and heroines who lost their lives fighting for freedom in the Kingdom of eSwatini.
"As we enter the month of June, PUDEMO has characterized and named this month as “The Month of Martyrs” in remembrance of all the fallen heroes and heroines who lost their lives in the journey to freedom, including those killed during the 2021 June political unrest. The PUDEMO encourages all Swazi people to boycott the sham Tinkhundla elections and demand constitutional multi-party elections where Parliament can pass laws and speak in the electorate's interest without fear of imprisonment or assassination." reads the statement in part, released by the PUDEMO Secretary General Penuel Malinga on Wednesday afternoon.
The 7th June 2023, marks exactly a year since the death of the Internationalist Amos Mbuleheni Mbedzi who was unjustly incarcerated and sentenced to eighty five (85) years by Mswati's autocratic regime.
