MBABANE: “We held a meeting to discuss this probase roads project and as we engaged,I discovered that the costs difference between probase and the normal roads is very low, hence it would be advisable for Parliament to approve the construction of quality roads”.
These were the sentiments of a former Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Finance.
The ex-Finance PS was speaking to this Swaziland News on Friday, shortly after reading the Parliament story of Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) Marwick Khumalo, the MP suggested that the Executive and Parliament must consider preparing and approving the R5billion loan to construct roads across the country.
“I am calling you to assist, I’ve just read the Marwick story about the roads. When we first discussed this project, the probase was costing R5million per-kilometer and the quality road was around R7million.But I don’t know the costs now. So, if you can look at the difference, it’s better to go for quality not the probase,” said the former Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
