MBABANE: His Excellency George Wachira, the United Nations(UN) Eswatini Resident Coordinator met with Commerce, Industry and Trade Minister Mancoba Khumalo, Government online platforms reported on Thursday.
“Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo has today received a courtesy visit from UN Resident Coordinator H.E George Wachira. Among other things discussed were areas of cooperation between the UN and the Ministry,” reads the Government online report.
According to the report, areas discussed by the Minister and the UN Coordinator include the implementation of the Industrialization Policy, the development of an improved Investment and Investor Mapping Policy, the roll out of the AfCFTA Implementation Plan as well as expanding the role of the International Trade Center to incorporate agricultural cooperatives projects as part of developing regional value chains.
“Also discussed were the acceleration of Green energy initiatives towards energy independence and anticipation of potential carbon tax impacts in the future,” the report states.
