MBABANE: King Mswati allegedly cancelled his ‘Makhosetive’ childhood name, his diplomatic passport and an Identification Document(ID) suggest that he is now legally registered as “Dlamini Mswati III”.

The King was named Mswati III during his coronation in 1986, this was according to the hierarchy of previous Kings.

King Sobhuza I(Somhlolo)was the father of Mswati II hence Sobhuza II, fathered King Mswati III.

Copies of the King’s identification documents, in possession of this journalist further suggest that his identity number was correctly registered according to his year of birth, day and month like all citizens, however, the childhood name was allegedly cancelled or removed in the eSwatini Government systems.

The King’s private documents cannot be revealed for ethical reasons.

Reached for comments, King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said if the King changed his personal IDs and removed his childhood name, that was a legitimate alignment to his official title as the Head of State.

“We are not aware of the alleged ID changes for the King but if they happened, they should be representing a legitimate alignment to the official title that he obtains today. We haven't seen British King Charles III new IDs but, we strongly believe there is change already from previous simple Prince Charles as the case was with King Sobhuza II who was known by the official title than the names given to him at birth such Nkhotfotjeni or Mona,” said the King Spokesperson.
