MBABANE: Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, the Spokesperson of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) has disputed that two(2) soldiers died during the fatal Quantum accident at eBuka-Ezulwini on Friday evening.
Responding to a questionnaire from this Swaziland News on Saturday, the Army Public Relations Officer(PRO), confirmed the accident but maintained that only one(1) soldier died.
“Your questionnaire is highly appreciated.The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), sadly confirms the accident ,which unfortunately claimed one life.That being said The Defence Force requests that the public affords the family of the deceased the respect and moment to mourn their loved one.The UEDF passes its sincere condolences to all whose lives were touched by the deceased during his life time.May his soul rest well. More on the details of the accident,kindly contact the relevant law enforcement agency Royal Eswatini Pilice Service(REPS),” said the Army Spokesperson in a message sent to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
It is alleged that the overloaded Quantum with soldiers from Mdzimba barracks had twenty-one(21) passengers.
Eye witnesses say two(2) soldiers allegedly died on the spot but, the Army has confirmed only one(1) death.
