LOBAMBA: King Mswati’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane,says he wouldn’t be surprised if the King could be included in looming targeted sanctions as the United States(US) had a history of making mistakes.
King Mswati, an absolute Monarch, stands accused of unleashing soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democracy.
Recently, the US Senate Congress on Foreign Relations approved Resolution 174, that seeks to impose sanctions on those violating human rights in eSwatini, the resolution will then be debated by the full United States(US) House of Senate.
Responding to a questionnaire from this Swaziland News on Monday evening, the King’s Spokesperson said the US supported the replacement of a government in Afghanistan,and supported it militarily.
“We have not seen the proposal.We would,however,not be surprised if he was included because Americans have a long history of making mistakes.In Afghanistan they supported a replacement Government and protected it militarily for over a decade but it collapsed less than two weeks after Washington pulled out its troops from that country.In Iraq they accused leader Sadam Husain of having developed weapons of mass destruction in the beginning of the century and executed him but the UN has not found anything to that effect up to today.Libyan Leader Muammar Qadaffi was executed after accusations of being an undemocratic dictator.However, a study on how and why he was killed revealed that Qadaffi was actually more democratic than those who planned his execution,” said the King’s Spokesperson.
Simelane added that former United States(US) President Barak Obama openly admitted Libya was a mistake.
“So we have seen this American movie before. It’s a question of giving a dog a bad name and hang it.Their sanction are basically political rape where Nations of the world forced to open their political legs or their economic engines will be silenced.We dare the American prove that the reasons for which Eswatini and its leadership must be sanctions are true,”said the King’s Spokesperson.
