It’s an embarrassment for King Mswati to officially open private hospitals while public health institutions struggle with medication.

Monday, 3rd July, 2023

When King Mswati officially opened the Ezulwini Private Hospital last week subsequent to a similar visit at The Luke Commission, it became clear that there’s a State agenda to destroy public health institutions to create business for alleged royal-linked hospitals.

It’s very unfortunate that Mswati is tempering with one of the most sensitive institutions being the health sector and, in the process, hundreds of Swazis are dying.

As the situation stands, there’s a public demand for drugs in hospitals and we are not seeing the State and/or Mswati as a Head of State, demonstrating a political will to address the crisis.

Worth-noting, this crisis is sensitive in such a way that, it might manifest into and/or amount to crimes against humanity, in fact, Mswati is tempering or violating the right to life.

The King must release ‘'taxpayers’ money and provide drugs in hospitals, if there are corrupt health officials stealing the medication, it is the duty of the State to investigate arrest and prosecute them according to the law, we don’t want any excuses here.

Access to health is a basic human right and therefore, government must ensure that members of the public are well-treated in hospitals.

As a country, we cannot rely or be fully dependent on donations from the international community, when taxpayers are pumping money into public coffers.
