VUVULANE: Themba Msibi, the Lubombo Regional Administrator(RA) says Vuvulane resident Mphisi Dlamini is not the Chief of that area.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday, after armed police allegedly invaded Dlamini’s home to demand uMphakatsi’s stamp, the RA said, he was aware that Dlamini was supposed to surrender the stamp to him but, he clarified he was not aware why the police attacked him.
“What I know is, we held a meeting on Thursday and some farmers demanded that Mphisi must step-down as the leader of the farmers.So,it was agreed that he will surrender the stamp to me and the stamp will be handed over to the one who will be elected. Actually, he is not the Chief but after being elected as Chairperson of the farmers and/or a development Committee,he was given the stamp so that residents can access it without traveling to Siteki. I was expecting him to hand it over to me but, I don’t understand why the police attacked him because if he is refusing, the matter must come-back to me for another ruling,” said the Lubombo Regional Administrator.
A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the police Spokesperson, however, Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, Mphisi Dlamini told this publication that the police who invaded his home earlier on Monday, threatened him with death. He said he was being persecuted for refusing to include a company owned by King Mswati and Indlovukazi to benefit from the sugarcane farming.
“I am also accused of allowing pro-democracy politicians who will disturb Parliament, to stand for elections. The King and Indlovukazi presented a company here and we rejected it. Now, they are fighting me, demanding the uMphakatsi stamp.The police said that it’s better for me to surrender the stamp otherwise I will die.Batsi kuncono ngiletse le-stamp ngingafi,” he said.
