MBABANE: Almighty Sukati, the Secretary General (SG) of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) has, on behalf of the organisation released a press statement condemning the arrest of the Union’s Political Educator Sambulo Shongwe.
“The Swaziland National Union of Students (SNUS) wish to warn the Tinkhundla government for declaring war, through its state security, on the students by arresting the Political Educator Sambulo Shongwe, a member and leader of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Union.It is actually provocative act by the government in such a time of a deteriorating political situation in the country," reads the statement in part released by the Student Union's Secretary General.
The SNUS Political Educator was arrested on Tuesday morning at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA), Mbabane Campus on Wednesday, he was officially charged at the Mbabane Magistrate Court with five (5) counts of assault and one(1) of burning a national flag during last year’s protest at Mbabane Campus.
