MBABANE: King Mswati’s bodyguards who travelled with him to attend Lesotho King Letsie’s sixty(60th) birthday allegedly received over ten-thousand Rands(R10,000.00) as traveling allowances.

Information in our possession suggests that, the bodyguards that include Major General Collen Lusushwana Lasco, were more than ten(10),hence the amount adds to more than one-hundred thousand Rands(R100,000.00).

Documentary evidence in our possession further suggests that, some of the bodyguards travelled by road to Lesotho, a few days before the King left on Sunday.

Reached for comments, King Mswati’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said, he was not aware of the amount, as his office does not handle finances.

“We don’t handle allowances or salaries. We are therefore not privy to the formula used to pay travel  allowances to any destination,”said the King’s Spokesperson.

On another note, the extravagant spending by the King and/or looting of public funds through traveling allowances, escalate at the time when public hospitals are facing shortage of medication.
