MBABANE: Pius Vilakati, the Communist Party of Swaziland(CPS) Head of Research and Development says the upcoming Tinkhundla undemocratic elections will produce King Mswati’s ‘toy’ Parliament to be used in strengthening dictatorship.
Speaking to this Swaziland News current affairs program on Monday evening, after the abduction of four(4) CPS members, Vilakati said, as result,the regime was desperate to silence anyone who is against the Tinkhundla undemocratic elections.
CPS members who are among the most active and vocal against King Mswati’s regime including his Tinkhundla elections, have been targeted by the police and soldiers.
“The regime is desperate to ensure that the elections take place to produce a ‘toy’ Parliament.It is for these reasons that,they are targeting our members because we made it clear that these elections must be disrupted,” said the Communist Party Head of Research and Development.
Eswatini police officers, have intensified a crackdown on pro-democracy activists, including CPS members who are against the upcoming Tinkhundla undemocratic elections.
As a result, close to ten(10) members of the CPS have been targeted within a month by the police and soldiers, others were tortured and arrested.
