NHLAMBENI: Manzi Zwane, the vocal popular pro-democracy former Nhlambeni Member of Parliament(MP) has confirmed to this Swaziland News that he had to hide in a safe place, amid a plot by the State police to kidnap him so he can miss nominations that were postponed to tomorrow(Sunday) morning.
This comes after this publication reached out to him to ascertain if he was safe after this journalist received information suggesting that, the police were plotting to grab him and subsequently release him after nominations.
“I can confirm that I am in a safe place. Yes, it’s true, information reached out to me as well, that there
was a plotted kidnapping so I can miss the nominations,” said the former MP.
Both Mbonisi Bhembe, the Spokesperson of the Elections Commission and Police Public Relations Officer(PRO) Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Nominations were halted at Nhlambeni on Saturday, after hundreds of supporters of the aspiring pro-democracy MP demanded that everything must be stopped if Zwane was not appearing on the voters roll.
This comes after the EBC alleged that the former MP and twenty-nine(29) others, were not appearing in the system, the Elections Commission officials promised to address the alleged technical era, that appeared to be politically motivated.
