MBABANE: Sicelo Mngomezulu, the lawyer representing incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube met Sticks Nkambule, the Secretary General of the Swaziland Transport, Communications and Allied Workers Union(SWATCAWU) to offer message of support.
Nkambule was forced into exile by King Mswati’s regime, a warrant of arrest was issued after he influenced a national shutdown as part of the ongoing efforts to democratize eSwatini.
Reached for comments, Mngomezulu, the Executive Director of the Lawyers for Democratic Reforms in Swaziland(LAW-DERSWA) confirmed the meeting, adding that possible ways of strengthening the transport organization were also discussed.
“As the Executive Director of LAW-DERSWA (Lawyers for Democratic Reform in Swaziland), I offered our message of support to Cde Sticks Nkambule in light of the continued persecution against him by Mswati’s Regime.We also explored how him and his workers’ organisation could be supported so that it remains a credible formation against the abuse of workers’ rights and the advancement of the cause for democratisation in Swaziland. We thank him for his sacrifice and service,” said the lawyer representing the incarcerated pro-democracy MPs.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Nkambule said, they discussed issues of national importance with the lawyer including ways of democratizing eSwatini.
