MBABANE: Dr Thambo Gina, the Minister of Economic Planning and Development has launched the 2023 State of the World Population Report. 

This was during the World Population Day commemoration event held on Thursday under the theme: “Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities”.

 “The theme is reminding us to put women and girls at the centre of development so as to create a better world for the benefit of all.Women and girls make up 49.7% of the global population and in Eswatini, this proportion goes up to 51% which is enough reason to involve this major population group in decision making processes on matters that are of significance to their lives,” said the Minister as quoted by Government online platforms.

The Minister said he was happy to highlight that the Government of Eswatini was fully committed to gender equality and women’s empowerment and has ratified a number of regional, continental and international instruments as a demonstration of this commitment.
