MBABANE: Duduzile Dlamini-Nhlengetfwa, the Deputy Commissioner of the eSwatini Human Rights Commission accepted a “shortage of drugs” petition from the Swaziland United Democratic Front(SUDF), a coalition of pro-democracy groups.

There were no shooting of protestors by the police and the protest was peaceful.

Addressing the protesters in Mbabane after accepting the petition, the Human Rights Commission Deputy Commissioner said, efforts were being made to address the ongoing health crisis.

“We have been assured by the relevant authorities that the health crisis is being addressed”, said the Deputy Commissioner.

The Swaziland United Democratic Front(SUDF) is currently pushing a campaign, seeking to force government to provide drugs in public hospitals.

The Human Rights Commission was petitioned last week, on basis that, access to health, is “human right that is currently undermined” by the shortage of drugs.
