MBABANE: Retired Urban Development Principal Secretary(PS) Clifford Mamba’s hopes and dreams of being retained as the PS, were shattered on Wednesday after the King through Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini announced the appointment of Dr Simon Zwane as the new PS.
Mamba who retired in May 2023, has been refusing to vacate a Government house, he allegedly told some officials within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development that King Mswati assured him that he will renew his contract of employment.
But Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson told this Swaziland News earlier that, the Constitution allows the King to extend a civil servant’s service if he feels he still needs him.
“The Constitution allows the King to extend a civil servant’s service if he feels he still needs him. To the best of my knowledge the Constitution does not say anyone who wants to continue serving may approach the King.With Government it’s a norm to ask for an extension which is either approved or denied”, said the King’s Spokesperson when responding to a questionnaire sent by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
A questionnaire was sent to to the retired PS, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini announced the appointment of Khanya Mabuza as the new Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Health, Simanga Mamba, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission(CSC) was present during the press conference on Wednesday.
