MBABANE: Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson has confirmed that the Head of State has extended Cabinet term of office to the 25th September 2023.

The Spokesperson was responding after being asked to confirm Legal Notice No 183 where the King Gazetted the extension.

Simelane apologized and informed the editor that he realized late that his response didn’t go through yesterday, hence the article was published without a comment from the King’s Office.

“I have just realized my response didn't go through.Yes,the King has officially commanded Cabinet's stay till 25 September, 2023”, said the King’s Spokesperson in a message sent to the editor.

On another note, editor Zweli Martin Dlamini thanked Simelane for his continued professionalism when handling issues of the Monarchy with the media.

“We have good working relationship with Simelane, he always respond timely and professionally even on matters that are critical. I think his journalism background capacitated him because he understands that in the media, there are deadlines for the publication of news.Responding to a journalist does not only provide an opportunity for the King to clarify issues but, it also helps the journalist to fully understand the issue and balance his facts before publishing. In the process, the public receives balanced news to make informed decisions”, said the editor.
