MBABANE:”The ongoing Tinkhundla elections are not democratic because, winners won’t form or establish a democratic government”, lawyer Sicelo Mngomezulu, the Chairperson of the pro-democracy MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) told Ligwagwala FM, a South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) radio station on Monday morning.
The MSF is an internationally recognized coalition of pro-democracy groups in eSwatini, collectively amplifying the calls for democratic reforms.
“We cannot call the ongoing process ‘elections’ because those who will eventually win won’t form a government,” said the lawyer.
The MSF Chairperson further mentioned that they have written a letter to the Southern African Development Community(SADC) informing the regional organization that, King Mswati’s request for the removal of eSwatini on the SADC Troika agenda must not be accepted on basis that, the issues that resulted to the country being included were not resolved.
