JOHANNESBURG: Xi Jinping, the Chinese President has arrived here in Johannesburg-South Africa to participate in the BRICS Summit to be held this week, from 22nd -24th August 2023.
BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, organization of the world’s fastest-growing and emerging economies.
The President of the People’s Republic of China(PRC), was welcomed by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Oliver Tambo(OR) Tambo International Airport around midnight on Monday.
The BRICS Summit will be attended by more than thirty(30) Heads of State from the African continent, as invited guests.
Other Heads of State whose countries are BRICS members that include Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate in the Summit.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, will attend virtually amid a warrant of arrest by the International Criminal Court(ICC), he will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
