LUDZIDZINI:King Mswati has all ordered widows to widows to remove mourning gowns in honour of his upcoming Birthday and Independence Day double celebration.
The message was communicated by Indvuna Themba Ginindza during a press conference held here at Ludzidzini Palace on Tuesday.
Reached for comments, Nonhlanhla Dlamini, the Executive Director of the Eswatini Action Group Against Abuse(SWAGAA) said, the Constitution allows women to decide whether they want to wear mourning gowns or not, she commended the decision by the King.
“Maybe, we can start by stating that the Constitution allows women to freely decide if they want to wear mourning gowns or not.Mourning gowns are very discriminative to women, they are not allowed to participate in some national events or enter certain public offices. We therefore applaud such decision by the King ahead of his Birthday and Independence Day double celebration”, said the SWAGAA Director.
