MBABANE:Mandla Luphondvo,the Central Bank of Eswatini(CBE) Head of Strategy and Communications has confirmed that Governor Phil Mnisi launched the new two hundred Emalanheni (E200) banknote at the Trade Fair on Friday afternoon.
Responding to this Swaziland News when asked to explain the changes that comes with the new bank-note, the Central Bank Head of Strategy said, the changes adjust the country name, from Swaziland to Eswatini and further incorporates the signatures for the current Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank.
“Today (Friday) the Governor of the Central Bank of Eswatini, Dr. Phil Mnisi presented a reprinted E200 banknote. This presentation, taking the form of an activation, took place at the Eswatini International Trade Fair stand in Manzini.The reprint of the E200 banknote adjusts the country name, from Swaziland to Eswatini and incorporates signatures for the current Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank.As standard and best practice, central banks across the world change currency (banknotes and coins) features to prevent counterfeiting and to maintain the security and integrity of currency. They also reprint currency as some features related to the currency in the landscape of the country change,” said the Central Bank Head of Strategy and Communications.
