MBABANE: Themba Msibi, the Lubombo Regional Administrator(RA) says, the office of Ingwenyama is better positioned to respond and clarify if there are moves, to include Chiefs on the Government system payroll.
The RA was responding to this Swaziland News amid concerns suggesting that, some Chiefs are financially struggling despite holding a very powerful traditional position.
Others are employed in the security forces with no reasonable income that befits their status in the society.
“It is the office of the Ingwenyama that is better positioned to respond, in this case, if you can contact Chief Mgwagwa Gamedze. As RAs, we are working under the Ministry of Tinkhundla so, this matter is far above us”, said the Lubombo Regional Administrator.
Efforts to reach King’s Office Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Chief Mgwagwa Gamedze proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
In the governing structure of the country and/or King’s salutations when addressing the Nation, Chiefs are ranked above Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament (MPs) and Regional Administrators(RAs), however, no Government Gazette that regulates them to be on the payment system.
But a few earn a living after being appointed by the King as members of emaBandla(Governing Councils), Parliament, while others work in the security forces.
