OPINION:Businessman Kareem Ashraf must explain how government owes his SwaziPharm R54million but the company continues to operate, what was supplied with no drugs in hospitals?

Thursday, 21st September, 2023

It’s a pity that SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraf, the powerful and politically connected ‘mafia’ literally ‘ran’ away on Wednesday evening when I started asking him questions regarding the multi-million fraud and corruption within the Ministry of Health.

The last time we spoke with Ashraf, he threatened to report me to the King for doing my job as a journalist, perhaps he wanted the independent media to keep quiet while he messes-up this country with his corrupt syndicate.

Perhaps, let me publicly question Ashraf because he ran away yesterday(Wednesday) when asked to respond about the alleged corruption that resulted to the loss of innocent lives within the hospitals.

Mr Ashraf, you claim government is owing your SwaziPharm R54million, can you publicly disclose what you supplied to justify this payment from taxpayers, just publish another statement or proof of delivery including pictures of drugs and medical equipment you supplied to government.

Once you do that, as the media, we will assist you as well by putting pressure on government to pay owed suppliers including your company, we are independent and we are your voice as well if you are owed genuine invoices, just prove what you supplied.

As a publication, we are challenging you Mr Ashraf because we are in possession of more evidence suggesting that, you were invoicing government without supplying anything and at times, you would supply drugs that were due to expire so that, the alleged corrupt officials in the Ministry of Health Procurement Department can issue more questionable orders.

The Nation has been crying amid shortage of drugs in hospitals and if you are owed R54million this means, you have been supplying, just show us where you supplied those drugs.

In conclusion Mr Ashraf, can you disclose how you were able to continue running SwaziPharm while being owed such a huge amount of money? How did you service your bank loans and where did you source monies to pay your suppliers and salaries for your employees?.

Very soon Mr Ashraf, I will be coming to you with more questions as the investigation intensifies, innocent citizens are dying in hospitals as you read this, you must account for the hundreds of lives who died.

Don’t even try to run to King Mswati, he won’t assist you, if there’s evidence suggesting that he is involved, he will be exposed as well.

But for now, can you explain and justify the R54million allegedly owed to you by government, where did you supply because there are no drugs in public hospitals?.
