MBABANE: Mphilo Dlamini,the former MTN Eswatini Corporate Affairs Manager lost elections, some voters accused him of de-campaigning their favorite candidate Bhekithemba Bhembe towards the Secondary Elections by labeling him as uneducated.
Residents of the area alleged that Dlamini, was highly confident that he will win, saying he was competing with uneducated individuals.
“The problem is that, he disappeared and went to South Africa only to come back during elections, so we elected Bhembe because he stays with us. Uyabona nawungenela lentfo yelukhetfo, bantfu abafuni utiphakamise, bafuna wehle ube nabo laba phansi. Lona besacale nekutsi yena sokhulume nabo Themba Masuku vele lana uyengca uya-Cabinet.Ufuna kwengciswa ngitsi”, said one of the residents.
Towards the Secondary Elections, the former MTN Corporate Affairs Manager allegedly posted his CV to various campaign Whatsap groups including his pictures with powerful world leaders that include former United Nations(UN) Secretary General Kofi Annan among others, in an attempt to convince the voters that he was more than qualified not only to become an MP but a Cabinet Minister.
Efforts to reach the former MTN Manager proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments by this Swaziland News Bhekithemba Bhembe, the newly elected Shiselweni II MP confirmed that, he won the elections but declined to comment with regards to what other aspiring MPs were saying about him when campaigning.
“It’s not difficult to win elections when you are with the people on your side.I cannot comment on the other issue you are asking me about,” said the Shiselweni II MP when interviewed by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
The new MP managed to ‘beat’ Nhlangano Mayor and murder suspect Mashumi Shongwe as well, who was also competing in the race to Parliament.
