MBABANE: Thamsanqa Hlatswako, the Head of Secretariat of the Political Parties Assembly(PPA) has, on behalf of the political organization, released a statement labelling the recently held Tinkhundla elections as sham and a fictitious process.
“The Political Parties Assembly(PPA) is engrained to the liberation of the nation from an absolute monarch to a full democratic state founded on the mandate of the people.On Friday, 29 September 2023 our nation was once again coerced into a fictitious process to elect fifty-nine (59) EmaSwati who will be sworn as Members of Parliament to legitimize the perpetuation of the royal regime under King Mswati III,” reads the statement in part released by the PPA Head of Secretariat.
Political parties are banned from participating in elections in eSwatini, political activists and human rights defenders are tortured, imprisoned and killed for demanding democracy.
