MBABANE: Sivumelwano Nyembe, the Spokesperson of the pro-democracy MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) says, William Tsintsibala Dlamini, the Police National Commissioner who died on Saturday, played a crucial role in the recent political unrest.

In a statement sent to this Swaziland News on Saturday, the MSF Spokesperson first sent condolences to the family and friends of the late Police Commissioner William Dlamini for his untimely demise.

“Commissioner Dlamini had a crucial role to play in the Swazi people’s pursuit of understanding the tragic events of June 28th and 29th, 2021, and the subsequent intensification of political violence against the masses of our people. Swazis lost their loved ones as they were killed through his orders as the commander of the police service. Others lost their limbs whilst others such as trade unionists experienced persecution of various kinds. His untimely passing therefore leaves a significant void in our efforts to seek justice and closure for the families who lost their breadwinners and children during those trying times. Dlamini also passed on whilst the Swazi Nation was still nursing hopes insofar as the conclusion of the investigation regarding the gruesome murder of the MSF inaugural chairman, Comrade Thulani Maseko. His killing by unknown assassins on 21January 2023 still haunts us even today and we still await the outcome of such an investigation which Dlamini had promised that it would be concluded in good time,” reads the statement in part.
