MBABANE: Khanya Mabuza, the Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Health says, the Luke Commission must first win a Government tender to supply oxygen to health facilities in the country.
Speaking to this Swaziland News current affairs program on Monday evening, amid allegations suggesting that, Government was sabotaging the Luke Commission by refusing to purchase the oxygen, the PS clarified that, the oxygen must first meet certain standards.
“We cannot just source oxygen from the Luke Commission, there are certain standards required for such and this include approval by the WHO and Standards Authority. The Luke Commission must also win a tender like all government suppliers”, said the Principal Secretary.
The PS was called to clarify the matter after senior sources within the Luke Commission alleged that, the health institution might retrench workers as government was refusing to support it by purchasing the oxygen.
On another note, the PS clarified that the oxygen produced by Luke Commission was being examined by the Standards Authority to ascertain if it meets the required standards.
