Eswatini signs R25.4million agreement with Japan to end hunger, World Food Program(WFP) Country Director Deepak Shah says over 30 000 children to benefit.

MBABANE: Deepak Shah, the World Food Program(WFP) Eswatini Country Director says over thirty thousands(30000) children will benefit after the new signed agreement between the Kingdom of eSwatini and Japan. 

The agreement around to R25.million signed in Mbabane on Wednesday aimed at achieving Zero Hunger Goal.

“With this support, the Government of Eswatini and WFP will continue the implementation of the Neighbourhood Care Points (NCPs) Programme in over 800 NCPs supporting over 30 000 children across the country.This support comes in the form of rice, maize, beans and oil,” said the WFP Director as quoted by Government online platforms.

On another note, Thabsile Mlangeni, the Principal Secretary(PS) in the Ministry of Economic Planning said, the food aid assistance will go a long way in supporting education by providing at least one daily meal for twelve(12) months to Orphans and Vulnerable Children(OVC).

“This ensures sufficient nutrition, helps the children maintain focus in school, encourages school attendance and combats malnutrition,” she said.
