MAHLANYA:Thandeka Angel Mavuso, the aspiring Regional woman Member of Parliament(MP) says,if elected, she will push for Gender Based Violence(GBV) inside Parliament to be declared as a national disaster.
Speaking on this Swaziland News during an interview, Mavuso who took the lead in the nomination on Friday said,it's of paramount importance to empower women and develop programmes especially for the girl child because they are a fundamental component in the development of the society.
“Greetings Mr Maseko,if elected as an MP, I would push for the declaration of GBV as a national disaster inside Parliament.Decisive action must be taken against the gruesome murders of women in our society.The empowerment of women and the girl child in general is crucial because,women are a fundamental aspect for the development of any society,"said the aspiring woman MP.
Thandeka Angel Mavuso's sentiments comes at a time when eSwatini is facing a surge in domestic violence cases.
