MBABANE: Alpheous Nxumalo,the eSwatini Government Spokesperson says, the touring of the Central Medical Stores(CMS) by a Cabinet Select Committee is not a mere political posturing but a fact finding process,to enable Government to take decisive action in addressing the health crisis.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Thursday,when asked to clarify why Cabinet keeps on conducting endless touring of the Ministry of Health instead of providing drugs in hospitals, the Government Spokesperson said, the touring was meant to enable Cabinet to understand exactly what is happening within the Government hospitals.
“This is also in the lips of many Emaswati regarding the situation in the hospitals Mlangeni lomuhle but government can assure all Emaswati that the touring of the facility was not about political posturing but about getting to the bottom of the facts and reality of what axactly is happening in the Government hospitals.So therefore,the touring are not endless but targeted at fact findings which are crucial at making decisive and relevant decisions,” said the Government Spokesperson.
Eswatini is facing a health crisis amid shortage of drugs in public health institutions,hundreds have died since the crisis erupted,marred by allegations of manipulation of the procurement process by suppliers with intent to loot more public funds.
