NGCULWINI:Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) says the recent hailstorm that destroyed homes and cars and other infrastructure for thousands of emaSwati will reveal the true colors of the ruling Tinkhundla system of Governance.

This comes a few hours after Thulisile Dladla, the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM)was seen taking pictures with a tent donated by the Eswatini Red Cross Society when touring households affected by the recent hailstorm, government later branded the tent as an assistance from the State.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Sunday, the PUDEMO President said, Prime Minister(PM) Russell Dlamini was appointed as a reward for stealing about R180million from the National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA), an institution that should be assisting victims of natural disasters.

“The R180million and other monies that were swindled by Russell on behalf of Mswati from the National Disaster Management is the money that should be intervening whenever Swazis are faced with such disasters. For we know that every country in the world does put aside resources for such natural disasters, for they always occur now and again. Now,for the DPM and her friends to go there for a photo shoot is nothing but an insult to the Swazis who have suffered so much loses,” said the PUDEMO President.

Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

But before the tour of the affected households by the DPM, the eSwatini Government Spokesperson released a statement saying the Deputy Prime Minister, officials from the National Disaster Management Agency(NDMA) and Baphalali Red Cross Society will assess the damage caused by the recent hailstorm and come-up with a comprehensive report.

“Preliminary reports indicate that about seven Tinkhundla have been affected by the hailstorm, and these are Mafutseni and Mntfongwaneni in the Manzini region as well as Khubuta,Khwene,Sandleni,Hosea and Mtsambama in the Shiselweni region,”reads the statement in part, released by the Government Spokesperson.

On another note,Government intends spending over R200million to build houses for Members of Parliament(MPs) amid high level of poverty perpetrated by amongst others, natural disasters, looting and/or corruption in the public administration and King Mswati’s extravagant lifestyle.

The decision to build the MPs houses has been widely criticized by pro-democracy organizations.
